Age Groups at Kid’s Island Nursery

Kid’s Island Nursery is deeply rooted in a play-based approach, following the British Curriculum that allows children to start their journey in education in a developmentally appropriate way.

Our nature-rich preschool environments provide for infants and toddlers from 8 months to 4 years old (Foundation Stage 1), providing them with learning opportunities that encourage a sense of wonder.

The aim of Early Years education is to provide a safe, secure and happy environment where children are offered the structure, stimulation, encouragement and guidance to support emerging skills and to become emotionally and mentally ready for subsequent phases of life, such as Primary School.

We help nurture your child through every stage of development. ​​The nursery serves as a safe haven where children can learn, play, and grow.

We pride ourselves in providing age-appropriate education, focussed on a play-based philosophy that aims to develop curious minds as well as social skills.

Our teaching philosophy, the Inspire Philosophy, draws inspiration from many incredible pedagogies and teachings; some of those being Waldorf, Montessori, Forest Schooling, and Reggio Emilia.

The core of the Early Year Foundation Education System is that every child is a unique and competent learner whose individual needs must be acknowledged and incorporated within the pre-school setting.

Our infants and toddlers are grouped according to their age, assigned a teacher, an assistant (sometimes two!), and support assistant to ensure that each child within the group is well catered to. Dividing the children by age also assists with an age-appropriate learning journey.

Our staff members are trained and qualified to plan for children’s individual learning needs. Observation and assessment are tools practitioners use to assist them in identifying children’s strengths, developmental needs and interests, so as to support them through their weekly planning.
